2011 Band News
March 12, 2011Finally an update from the Copper Coins band! Sorry for the delay since our last report. Yes, we are back from our holiday break and getting excited to see what God wants to do with us and through us in 2011! It is already shaping up to be an exciting year and we are looking forward to seeing all of your familiar faces as well as meeting plenty of new friends along the way! It is such a privilege to be able to serve Christ through the gift of music and we enjoy coming to join you in worship to our Savior King!
Our last event on February 27th found us returning to the Chemung Christian Fellowship, the church where Copper Coins was originally born. You know, back then we did not initially have the intention of becoming a band. We were just a group of friends getting together for a one night singspiration event at one of our churches. However, God had other plans and it wasn't long before He made it apparent that He intended for us to do this longer than just one evening. Since then He has taken us on a bit of a journey and He continues to stretch and grow us as He leads us forward with this music ministry. Needless to say, the Sunday evening worship on the 27th with the great brothers and sisters at CCF was incredibly fun as we raised the roof with all their voices shouting praise to our Lord! Thank you to everyone who joined us there!
So, it is with a renewed vision and a passion to serve Him and celebrate His name that we journey onward! Our next scheduled event is set for April 3rd at the Waverly Christian & Missionary Alliance Church at 6pm. We hope you'll mark the date on your calendar and all come out to sing with us! Make sure you bring your friends and neighbors too! We will hopefully be welcoming our newest member on background vocals and harmonies, Sean Foote. Sean would have joined us sooner at the last event but unfortunately got sick and was unable to sing.
Just one last note of interest... Keep your eyes on our website in the coming weeks and months as we begin adding some new features and bringing new content in the hopes of making our home on the web a bit more like our live ministry... a place where you can come and be encouraged in your walk with Christ as well as keep track of the Copper Coins crew behind the scenes and along our journey with our King!

April 8, 2011Our last event this past Sunday, April 3rd, we had a wonderful time of worship with the people at the Waverly Christian & Missionary Alliance Church along with some special visitors from Steve Hoover's family and the Vestal Alliance Church. It was a very enjoyable night raising our music and voices in unison, praising our Savior together. Thank you to everyone who came out to join us and make the evening that much more exciting! We appreciate having the opportunity to share with you all and look forward to seeing you again!
Sadly, the evening ended on a sad note for the Copper Coins crew. Much to our regret, Karen Williams announced that she felt God telling her it was time to step down and leave the band. As you all know, this leaves a huge hole in the band and in our hearts as she is 1/2 of the signature vocal sound we've come to recognize as Copper Coins. She will be immensely missed and we hope you'll all join us in wishing her the best. The rest of us will now begin the next phase of reworking our band arrangement vocally and praying/seeking for who God might lead to us to take her place.
April 19, 2011It is no surprise that God works in mysterious ways. While it was only 11 short days ago that we made the announcement of Karen stepping down, God has been busy at work preparing to bring a new voice to the Copper Coins crew. After auditioning with us last week, tonight we welcomed our newest member, Crystal Kroh! You can check out her bio on our
May 4, 2011Much to our regret we sadly announce that Crystal Kroh, our new female co-lead vocalist, has decided to withdraw her acceptance of a position in Copper Coins due to unexpected issues. We wish Crystal all the best and will keep her in our prayers. It looks like we'll continue our search for someone to share the singing with Donny.
May 31, 2011After much discussion and personal consideration, Sean Foote has decided to move on with some other projects in his life so we bid him farewell and best of luck in all his endeavors. We are continuing our search for additional vocalists, both lead and back-up, to join Donny on the mic for Copper Coins. If you or anyone you know of may be interested, please feel free to and see if you might be a good fit for this band ministry.
August 17, 2011Wow, has it been quite awhile since we last updated our website! Please accept our apolgies for the lengthy delay in getting news posted for those of you who are not on Facebook and keep up to date with us there. We have had quite a summer so far and we still have some events to go before the end of 2011 (with a few more being discussed and others on the way in 2012)! Let's back up and start with what has happened to date since our last post.
Copper Coins was privileged to once again be invited back to Sheshequin, PA for the outdoor worship event during the Bethel Youth Retreat. This year we were honored to be given the closing music spot on Saturday morning followed by a message from Pastor Chris Gray of the Greater Valley Assembly of God, rounding out a great time of Bible study, music and speakers during the 2 and 1/2 day event. A brief drizzle threatened to cancel our worship time but after a short wait and the decision to go with a minimal equipment setup instead of the full PA, we enjoyed a great time of praise with the teens and retreat leaders!
The search for a new female vocalist to share the lead with Donny continued through June and we had several worthy candidates contact us. As we began auditions it was clear that our very first candidate was sent by God to be the perfect fit into our band. The decision made, on July 14th Copper Coins welcomed Sallie Fuller to our crew and she has been an incredible blessing to the group in the month since then! While we don't yet have her bio and a good photo to post, we look forward to making a better introduction of her to all of you who visit here on our site in the very near future. Sallie comes to us having already been a public performer of her own songs which she has recorded to CD at MasterView Studios in Freeville, NY.
On Saturday, August 6th, Sallie made her debut with us as Copper Coins took part in an inaugural outreach event at the Chemung County Fair, organized by Allen Nichols of Ten Days and sponsored by the Community Wesleyan Church of Horseheads, NY. Again it was a rainy Saturday morning and the weather had a definite effect on the number of people who came out but thankfully, praise God, we had a nice dry spot to play under a tent and we enjoyed a special time of worship with those who stopped in as well as ministered to those within earshot or who walked past.
That brings us to the present week. Currently we are looking forward to joining all of you this Saturday night, August 20th, at the Halsey Valley Victory House at 7pm. If you miss this event be sure to catch us when we return to Elmira, NY and take part in the annual North Presbyterian Church block party on September 17th (time TBA)!
